The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has intensified consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election, engaging leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone.

The consultations, held on Saturday, covered all ten local government areas in the zone and took place in two key locations, drawing party executives, grassroots mobilisers and prominent political figures who reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s future in Oyo State.

The first meeting was held in Iseyin, where PDP leaders from Oke-Ogun Zone One—including Iseyin, Kajola, Itesiwaju and Iwajowa local government areas gathered under the leadership of former state PDP Chairman, Omokunmi Mustafa, alongside the current State Chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro.

Speakers at the meeting commended Ogundoyin’s leadership and legislative experience, describing his governorship ambition as a step towards consolidating the achievements of the current administration.

They also stressed the need for unity within the party and pledged support for his aspiration.

The second leg of the consultations was held in Isale Taba, bringing together stakeholders from Oke-Ogun Zone Two, comprising Irepo, Oorelope, Olorunsogo, Atisbo, Saki West and Saki East local government areas.

Key figures at the meeting included former Minority Leader of the State Assembly, Raifu Adekunle; the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebisi; and party stalwart, Mudasiru Eruobodo, among others.

Addressing stakeholders at both engagements, Ogundoyin formally presented his governorship ambition and unveiled his development blueprint, “IGBEGA OYO OMITUNTUN 3.0.”

He described the plan as a strategic framework aimed at accelerating economic growth, strengthening institutions and improving citizens’ welfare across the State.

He called for broad-based support, promising inclusive governance and balanced development across all regions of Oyo State.

The Speaker was accompanied on the tour by political leaders from Ibarapaland, including former Commissioner for Information and Culture, Moses Ojoawo; former House of Representatives member, Yemi Taiwo; and lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/Central, Peter Ojedokun, alongside several other party stakeholders.
