Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 65th Independence anniversary, urging citizens to remain united, resilient and committed to national progress.

In his goodwill message, Obanikoro described Nigeria’s journey since independence as one marked by sacrifice and resilience, noting that the country had consistently overcome challenges that “would have broken lesser nations.”

He said the country’s 26 years of uninterrupted democracy, cultural diversity and global achievements of Nigerians were testament to its enduring greatness.

Reflecting on the way forward, the former senator called for collective responsibility in nation-building, stressing that development could not rest on government alone. He urged greater synergy between the public and private sectors to accelerate Nigeria’s path to prosperity.

Obanikoro also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he called “bold reforms and unwavering commitment” to repositioning the economy, restoring global confidence and renewing hope.

“While the path of renewal is never easy, I am confident that under his leadership, Nigeria is poised to reclaim her rightful place as the giant of Africa and a beacon of black excellence in the world,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to see themselves as stakeholders in the country’s development, adding that unity, resilience and shared optimism remained Nigeria’s greatest assets.

“May the Almighty continue to guide our leaders, bless our people, and preserve our nation for generations to come. Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria,” Obanikoro added.
