The coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland has reached a significant milestone with his arrival at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where formal installation ceremonies are ongoing.
Earlier in the day, Oba Ladoja visited the Labosinde Compound at Oja’ba, where he underwent a key traditional rite the symbolic decoration with Akoko leaves by the Oluwo Afobaje of Ibadan, Labosinde.
This act, deeply rooted in Ibadan’s chieftaincy customs, followed the ritual opening of a calabash a spiritual step marking his acceptance of the royal mantle.

Dressed regally and transported in a white Rolls-Royce, the Olubadan-designate proceeded from Labosinde Compound to the Osemeji shrine directly opposite, where further customary rites were performed in accordance with Yoruba royal traditions.
At Mapo Hall, Oba Ladoja joined a gathering of distinguished royal fathers and dignitaries, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi; and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi.
They await the arrival of President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is expected to grace the coronation ceremony.
