The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has launched a statewide security operation ahead of Easter, deploying 2,280 personnel across all 16 local government areas to prevent any breach of peace during the celebrations.
State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, who disclosed this in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, said the move is part of proactive efforts to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
Under the arrangement, operatives have been strategically positioned at churches, recreational centres, motor parks, shopping complexes, and other high-traffic locations, with a mandate to provide visible security presence and deter potential threats.

The command also confirmed that surveillance operations and patrols have been intensified across both urban and rural communities, while tactical units and rapid response teams remain on standby to swiftly address emergencies.
Bodinga further directed officers to clamp down on acts of vandalism, particularly targeting critical national infrastructure, warning that offenders would face immediate arrest and prosecution.
He cautioned individuals with plans to disrupt public peace to desist, stressing that the corps is fully prepared to respond decisively to any form of security breach.
While extending goodwill messages to Christians marking the Easter season, the commandant urged residents to reflect the values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence, and to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration across the state.
