The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa, has participated in the official launch of the Civil Society Technology Empowerment for Capacity and High Performance (CIVTECH) Programme in Cross River State.

The initiative, organised by the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency, is designed to equip 2,000 civil servants with digital skills, with the aim of positioning the state as a hub for digital governance and public-sector innovation.

Declaring the programme open, the state Head of Service, Orok Okon, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening workforce capacity for efficient, technology-driven service delivery.

Representing the NITDA Director-General at the ceremony, the Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnership, Aristotle Onumo, delivered a keynote address stressing the urgent need for Nigeria’s public service to transition from traditional bureaucracy to digital excellence.

He observed that citizens increasingly expect government services to match the speed, transparency and convenience associated with digital banking and e-commerce platforms.

Onumo commended Cross River State’s embrace of digital reform and encouraged the adoption of modern tools, automated systems and technology-driven competencies to deliver faster, smarter and more reliable public services.

He emphasised that a high-performance public service must leverage technology to provide efficient service delivery at all times and for all citizens.
