Nigeria Customs Service insists on directive on imported Car

The Nigeria customs service recently directed that payment be paid on all cars in the country who defaulted in duty payments.

Many guilty car owners have been uncomfortable since the announcement.

The customs service says it is now offering those who purchased their cars before two thousand and fifteen a sixty percent off rebate.

This is to encourage payments as there is no going back on this stand.

The Nigerian senate has already asked the customs service not to implement this decision.  The command maintains that the issue will be resolved appropriately.

The motor dealers association appears to be support of the customs on this one. It says efforts are on to put in place a platform for authenticating import duties.

The customs service says it is working with other revenue generating and security agencies to ensure those who do not pay duties will not be able to obtain licences and register their cars in the country.

It feels the move will help boost security as it intensifies efforts at curbing smuggling and prosecuting owners of defaulting cars.
