Worried by the increasing number of out of school children in Nigeria, a non-profit organisation has initiated a call to action to ensure indigent children have access to education.

They say there is an urgent need to collaborate in addressing this menace.

According to the latest report by UNESCO, 20.2 million children are out of school in Nigeria.

The organisation says it is disturbed by this number, and has raised concerns about this development and insists that all hands must be on deck to address the menace.

Over the years, the foundation has been able to provide financial assistance for children who are out of school and this year marks the 5th annual fundraising event to assist indigent children back to school.

Lack of sustainability plan and poor funding were identified as some of the challenges contributing to the increasing number of out of school children in the country.

The event was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life who commended the efforts of IA-foundation and advised the audience to continue to advocate and invest in the education sector.

Still at the occasion, children who had benefited from the foundation staged a short play to show how impactful education is to the future of young Nigerians.

It is hope that with joint efforts from private individuals and the government, the future of children will be safe and secured.
