The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 17 suspects and seized assorted illicit substances under its special enforcement initiative, “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”

The State Commander, Mr. Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Kano by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari.

He explained that the operation was designed to ensure a safe, secure and drug-free environment throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

“Our operatives carried out intelligence-driven raids at strategic locations across Kano, including Race Course, Dan’agundi, Filin Mahaha, Kano Zoological Garden, Farm Centre by Zaria Road and Tashar Rami Na’ibawa.

“The coordinated operations led to the arrest of 17 suspects allegedly involved in drug-related activities.

“The items recovered during the raids included assorted illicit substances such as methamphetamine, popularly known as Ice, cannabis sativa, Exol-5, diazepam and rubber solution,” he said.

According to Yahaya-Lawal, the seizure underscores the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb the distribution and abuse of narcotics in the state.

He noted that the enforcement drive aligns with the directive of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba-Marwa, who has called for intensified nationwide operations aimed at promoting a drug-free society.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment, Yahaya-Lawal assured residents that the crackdown would continue throughout Ramadan and beyond to safeguard communities across Kano State.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support the agency with credible information to curb illicit drug activities.
