Navy arrests three suspects, 600,000 Litres Of Illegally, Refined Diesel

The Navy has arrested a three-man crew of a tugboat and a barge laden with six hundred thousand litres of illegally refined diesel in Bayelsa State. Handing over the suspects to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Forward Operating Base in Egweama, the Commander warned against economic sabotage and pollution of the maritime environment.

environment.

The Navy says they were in possession of a tugboat and a barge laden with six hundred thousand litres of illegally refined diesel.

Captain Suleiman shows the difference between a properly refined product and the illegal content.

The crew members, the tugboat and barge were handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The Captain of the forward Operating Base also warned crude oil thieves and perpetrators of illegal bunkering to desist from depleting the nation’s
economic reserve and polluting the maritime environment.
