The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been criticised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its claim that the ruling party was responsible for a reported shooting incident involving ADC members in Edo State.
In a strongly worded statement, the APC described the allegation, contained in the ADC’s 25 February 2026 press release, as baseless and premature.
It faulted the opposition party for attributing blame before the conclusion of investigations by law enforcement agencies, arguing that such conduct undermines due process.
The ruling party said violence in the political space is unacceptable and must be condemned, while calling on the police and other relevant authorities to carry out a thorough and expeditious investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The APC, however, maintained that it had no involvement in the reported shooting, insisting that it was focused on consolidating its recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory municipal elections and constituency polls in Rivers and Kano states.
The party also expressed appreciation to voters in the FCT, Kano and Rivers states for what it described as a vote of confidence in its leadership and in President Bola Tinubu.
Reaffirming its commitment to national development, the APC stated that it remains focused on strengthening security and building a more resilient and prosperous country for all Nigerians.
