More than 100 Nigerian doctors recently visited Dikwa and Konduga Internally Displaced Persons Camps to provide Free Health Care services to thousands of Displaced Persons in both camps.
TVC News Correspondent, Kolomi Dala reports that the hundreds of Nigerian Doctors put their lives on the line just to reach thousands of internally displaced Persons who need urgent medicare.
The volunteers cut across various medical fields and are from different parts of Nigeria. Their goal is to save the lives of the vulnerable victims, most especially Women, children and the aged. caught up in Boko Haram’s war against the Nigerian state.
Dikwa IDP camp was filled to capacity on this day and due to insufficient space the doctors moved out to a larger camp to extend free health care services to the lucky ones there.
The intervention was swift as the army enforced curfew in place limited the time within which their services could be rendered.
One highlight of the doctors visit was the introduction of highly nutritious Food for kids by the Team to Prevent Malnutrition. They used locally sourced ingredients for the formula to cut cost.

At Dikwa beneficiaries of the free health care services expressed appreciation to the kind-hearted doctors.
The next port of call was Konduga, a Town that withstood repeated attacks from Boko Haram and remains a shadow of its old self. The people were eager to receive the Team of life savers.
Some specialists in various fields kept themselves busy examining and using some of the latest hitech devices to detect eye ailments. This opthalmologist detected a man suffering from Glaucoma

It was then the turn of the health awareness team to provide thousands of free toothpaste and tooth brushes to the IDPs. They also demonstrated to them how to use the toothbrush.
In his own way, this small boy demonstrates the use of the tooth brush given to him.
Dr. Abba Saleh says a lot needs to be done in assisting the vulnerable people in the IDP camps.
The Doctors later marched to the headquarters of the 103 task force Battalion stationed in konduga to pay a condolence visit to soldiers stationed there on the death of a gallant officer, Lieutenant Colonel Abu-AiI
It was a great experience and an achievement of immeasurable proportion as so many people in the camps benefited from the doctors intervention, while the referral cases were evacuated to emergency centres in Maiduguri for
prompt medical attention.
The beneficiaries of the doctors kindness say they will remember them for as long as they live.
