Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, has advanced the Federal Government’s “Research to Revenue” agenda during a strategic meeting with the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The engagement focused on strengthening innovation-driven economic transformation under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and aligning with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
During the meeting, Udeh briefed the First Lady on the ministry’s flagship programme, “Energise Commercialisation Now,” an initiative designed to accelerate the conversion of Nigeria’s scientific research and indigenous technological innovations into scalable, market-driven enterprises.
According to the minister, the programme will promote stronger collaboration among universities, research institutes, innovators, industry stakeholders and investors to translate research outcomes into viable products and businesses.
He explained that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial application by linking institutions and private sector partners to support the transformation of discoveries into enterprises capable of driving economic growth.
Udeh noted that the programme also aligns with the administration’s broader goal of building a one-trillion-dollar economy through innovation, science and technology.
The minister further stated that the initiative will prioritise youth and women empowerment through technology transfer systems, incubation support, intellectual property development and venture creation.
He added that collaboration with the First Lady’s advocacy platforms would help expand grassroots participation and ensure wider inclusion in Nigeria’s innovation-driven development.
