The former attorney general of the federation and minister of justice Abubakar Malami, his son, Abdulaziz Malami, and Bashir Asabe have again pleaded guilty to the 16-count charge of alleged money laundering brought against them by the EFCC.
The defendants were re-arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court Abuja.
This re-arraignment is a result of the transfer of the case from the Vacation Judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, to Justice Obiora Egwuatu who recused himself for personal reasons and in the interest of justice.
Justice Egwuatu subsequently sent the file back to the chief judge of the Federal High Court for reassignment.

The chief judge then reassigned the case filed to Justice Abdulmalik, who is also the presiding judge over the case filed by the Department of State Services.
The Department of State Services had filed a 5 count charge against the former AGF for allegedly abetting terrorism financing.
Malami and his son are also being accused of illegal possession of firearms.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
