The Lagos State Government has formalised a strategic partnership with technology firms Automat and i-Cell through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at transforming parking management and alleviating traffic congestion across the state.

The agreement, announced in a statement by Divine Dunkwu, Head of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), marks a significant step toward the integration of smart technology into the city’s transportation infrastructure.

Under the new arrangement, LASPA will supervise the implementation of cutting-edge parking management solutions, which are expected to streamline operations, improve enforcement, and enhance mobility within Lagos.

The MoU was signed by LASPA General Manager, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, alongside Pereira Seun representing Automat, and Hassan Fayad and Fayd Fayad representing i-Cell.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Adelabu highlighted the transformative potential of the initiative. She noted that the new systems will optimize on-street parking, facilitate better planning, and allow residents to locate and book available parking spots with ease.

Among the anticipated benefits are reduced traffic disruptions, greater awareness of legal parking areas, elimination of harassment from illegal operators, and support for the state’s broader goal of achieving sustainable urban mobility.

Adelabu urged motorists and residents to comply with Lagos State parking regulations, reaffirming LASPA’s commitment to implementing the new system effectively and fulfilling its mandate.
