President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, said the union will soon convey its second national security and peace summit.The Congress President stated this at the first National Administrative Council meeting of the Congress in the year 2020.
NLC said it has lost more than 700 teachers to insurgency in Maiduguri alone and urged the government to find lasting solution to the increasing wave of insecurity, including risimg kidnapping in Abuja and other parts of the country.
The Congress demanded the immediate reopening of its state office in Port Harcourt, describing the government action as illegal.
It is excited that 16 states have kicked off the implementation of the minimum wage law, three have reached agreement to impekembtatio any time soon while 17 other states are currently negotiating.
It said only Taraba state has yet to kick off negotiations and enjoined the state to respect the provision of the minimum wage law.
NLC also called for the immediate composition of the Board of Pension Commision in line with the provisions of the law. It resolved to picket two banks he said sacked arbitrarily sacked workers without due compensation.
