The Jigawa State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading a viral video circulating on social media, which claimed that a group of armed bandits on motorcycles was seen moving through Dutse metropolis on Monday, 28 October 2025.
In a statement issued by the Command, the report was described as mischievous and capable of inciting unnecessary fear among residents.
According to the police, an investigation revealed that the individuals seen in the footage were members of the Peace and Security Service Organisation (Hunters) from Bauchi State, who were returning from a meeting at Chai-Chai Sabuwa in Ringim Local Government Area.
The statement added that the group, dressed in their traditional work attire and carrying Dane guns, bows, and arrows, was wrongly identified as a bandit convoy.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, urged the public to disregard the video in its entirety and to remain calm and law-abiding.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, while encouraging residents to support security agencies with credible information on suspicious movements or persons.
“The Jigawa State Police Command remains resolute in maintaining peace, law, and order across the State,” the statement added.
