Jigawa: Nine dead, eleven injured in tragic road crash

A tragic road accident in Kyaramma village of Jigawa State, has claimed the lives of nine people and left eleven others hospitalised.

The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed that a fatal head-on collision between two vehicles occurred around 2:00 a.m. in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area.

According to police reports, the crash involved two Golf 3 saloon cars.

 

 

 

One was coming from Abuja heading to Gujungu town, while the other was travelling from Hadejia to Kano.

Both vehicles collided head-on and veered off the road.

Nine people – including both drivers – lost their lives at the scene.

Eleven others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where they are now receiving treatment.

A post-mortem was conducted, and the remains of the deceased have been handed over to their families for burial.

Police have begun identifying all victims and reaching out to next-of-kin.

The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, CP AT Abdullahi, expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

He extended condolences to the families of those who died and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

The Commissioner also used the opportunity to appeal to all road users nationwide.

He emphasised the need to obey traffic laws, avoid speeding, and maintain their vehicles properly.

He stated that many such accidents are avoidable and warned that negligence on the road continues to cost precious lives.
