buhari-hosts-apc-leadersImo state and the Federal Capital Territory have no nominees on the list of forty six non-career ambassadors sent to the Senate for screening and confirmation by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki read the letter at Thursday’s plenary and the Senator representing FCT, Philip Aduda was quick to seek for justice for natives of the nation’s capital, Abuja.

President Buhari while communicating with the Senate on the list of the non-career ambassadors asked senators to urgently consider it so as to allow the government to post appointees to their positions.

But just as the Senate President concluded reading the letter, FCT Senator, Philip Aduda immediately raised a Point of Order challenging President Buhari for not nominating a native of FCT as non-career Ambassador, just as Imo state was missing from the list too.

The FCT senator said it was a violation of the constitutional rights of the FCT people and a slight on President Buhari’s supporters and party members in Abuja.

On the list, Lagos state has three nominees while nine other states have two nominees each.

With today’s list, the total number of career and non-career ambassadorial nominees is now ninety three.

Forty seven career ambassadors earlier sent by the President for screening are presently awaiting confirmation by the Senate.
