IGP visits Taraba, donates Helicopter for surveillance

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, has vowed not to leave any stone unturned in tackling security challenges bedevilling the country, particularly Taraba state which has witnessed a series of bandits attacks.

He made the promises during a courtesy call on Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku in Jaling on Monday.

The IGP is on a three-day working visit to the state to strategise on how to deal with farmers
and herdsmen conflicts.

The Police boss assured the governor and the people of Taraba state, that the high command of the force was doing everything possible to tackle security challenges in the state.

Part of the measures already taken according to the IGP was the deployment of three additional units of the mobile Police Force and a donation of one helicopter to the state government for aerial surveillance.

Governor Ishaku who was visibly elated, thanked the police chief for the visit, and pledged the support of the state government to the Nigerian police.

The governor, who noted that considerable peace had returned to the state, told the IGP that the state was still witnessing sporadic killings in some areas.

IGP Idris, later held an interactive session with traditional rulers and religious leaders at the state council chambers where he tasked them to sustain the Peace Enterprise in their respective domains.

Chairman, Taraba Council of Chiefs, Shekarau Angyu praised the police boss, and the performance of the police in Taraba state generally.

The IGP was accompanied by the AIG Zone 3, Kayode Aderanti, AIG Operations, Taiwo Lakanu and all heads of security agencies in the state.

He is billed to commission a Mobile Police Unit in Takum before returning to Abuja.
