The House of Representatives has welcomed the decision by Organised Labour to suspend its nationwide industrial action which lasted for two days.
The House also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser for its efforts in ensuring that the industrial action is suspended for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The House decided early on Wednesday to break the impasse by bringing the key parties together in order to find a peaceful solution, out of concern for the industrial action that had shut down economic activity in most of the nation.
The resolution was passed after Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu’s motion advocating for intervention in the dispute between the Federal Government and Organized Labor was adopted.
The motion was followed by an extensive debate and contributions among members.
The House thereafter voted to cut short legislative business for Wednesday and mandated the leadership of the House to liaise with its counterpart in the Senate with a view to jointly intervening in the impasse in the shortest possible time.
The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress commenced a nationwide industrial action on Tuesday, November 14, to protest their grievances over a recent assault on the NLC President amongst other issues.
