Suspected bandits have attacked a commercial bus along the Ijowa–Ijagbe axis of Mopamuro Local Government Area in Kogi State, abducting several passengers.
The incident occurred on Friday evening, according to eyewitness accounts, as the assailants reportedly emerged from nearby bushes and opened fire on the vehicle while it was in transit.

The bus driver was shot during the attack and sustained critical injuries. He has since been rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

An eyewitness confirmed that six passengers, five men and one woman, were abducted by the gunmen, who fled the scene immediately after the operation, while other passengers escaped.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement. Meanwhile, residents of the area say the incident has heightened fear and renewed concerns over rising insecurity in the local government area.
