Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has flagged off the distribution of agricultural input products worth 4 billion Naira to over 48,000 farmers.

This distribution, made possible under the N-CARES program, aims to boost food production and ensure food security in Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.

This event is expected to extend to farmers in all 21 local government areas of the state.

The governor is pleased with the increased sales in food production in the state, and says over 300% of the sales were a result of the N-Care initiative program.

The Governor added that the great achievement by farmers in Kebbi State was independently verified by the World Bank, ranking the state 5th, with a determination to be ranked first next year in food production in the nation.

He assured farmers that agriculture will continue to receive its pride of place under his administration.

Governor Idris also pledged 3 billion Naira worth of agricultural assets to be distributed to farmers across the state to increase food production.

The Governor called on farmers to make judicious use of the products they received and not sell them, as security agencies have been mandated to keep surveillance, arrest, and prosecute all violators of the order.

The CARES program is set to procure 100 truckloads of fertilizer for distribution to farmers, with the Kebbi State Government distributing 100 truckloads and Local Government Councils combined distributing 110 truckloads of the commodity free to farmers.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abba Sani Kalgo, expressed his happiness at the flag-off distribution and acknowledged the governor’s commitment to the development of the state.
