Governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially launched the distribution of fertilisers to farmers across the State.
The Governor said the gesture is part of his administration’s commitment to enhancing food security.
The flag-off ceremony, which took place at the Agric Warehouse in Akure, attracted a large turnout of farmers, stakeholders in the agriculture sector, and top government officials.
Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating the fertiliser supply through the Central Bank of Nigeria, acknowledging it as a crucial step to boost food production.
He assured that the distribution would be conducted fairly and transparently, emphasising that the fertilisers are not for sale and must not be politicised.
He added that his administration is committed to ensuring that palliatives reach the intended beneficiaries.
The Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture and Agribusiness, Rotimi Wemimo, said that the distribution of the fertilizers will be judiciously monitored
Beneficiaries of the fertilizers who are farmers were drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state.
