Gabon’s Opposition remains at loggerheads with President Ali Bongo and will honour his calls for a dialogue.
The leader of the opposition, Jean Ping branded the proposal for talks as a “masquerade” in which he would not participate.
The opposition leader had accused President Bongo of rigging the August 2016 elections, and using force to suppress the population after the release of the results.
Jean Ping, who was former AU Chairperson, has applied to the Constitutional Court to authorise a recount in a province, where President Ali Bongo won 95% of the votes on a 99.9% turnout.
