Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statewide broadcast on Friday, Fintiri announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accompanied by members of his cabinet and key state officials.

He described the move as a step in the “developmental interest of Adamawa residents.”

Recall that in late January 2026, Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf, officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Yusuf made the declaration at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House.

According to Yusuf, his return is firmly anchored with working closer with the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The shift increases the number of APC-controlled states to 30 out of Nigeria’s 36, while the PDP’s influence now remains limited to Oyo, Bauchi, and Zamfara States.

Other states continue to be governed by smaller parties: Anambra remains under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia is led by the Labour Party, and Osun is controlled by the Accord Party.

Below is the list of States governed by APC governors:

1. Adamawa

2. Akwa Ibom

3. Bayelsa

4. Benue

5. Borno

6. Cross River

7. Delta
