Image result for Nigeria Freight forwardersConcerned Freight forwarders and Transporters in Nigeria have stayed action on the plan to withdraw their services from the nation’s ports.

The decision followed ongoing consultations and meetings between interested parties to resolve contending issues.

TVC Correspondent Ifunanya Eze reports that the group had issued a two week ultimatum threatening action against unjustified demurrage charges and other arbitrary practices.

They also complained that the activities of shipping companies and terminal operators were frustrating trade.

Following the expiration of the ultimatum, the leadership of the group explained that relevant port agencies were already meeting with interested parties to address issues raised.

They however insisted, that introducing an electronic truck call up system will sanitize the port environment.

As deliberations continue, the group insists, it will withdraw its services, if port operators persist in disregarding the rules of engagement and refuse to reverse arbitrary charges in the ports.
