Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has directed local government authorities, the Ministry of Environment, and traditional leaders to ensure the proper care and maintenance of 5,000 assorted seedlings distributed across the state.
This initiative is part of the 2024 tree planting campaign, launched in partnership with the Flour Millers Association of Nigeria (FMAN), aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and conservation throughout Jigawa State.
Tree planting is a simple yet powerful tool for sustaining the environment, promoting economic growth, and improving human livelihoods.
Planting a tree goes beyond mere aesthetics; it plays a crucial role in preventing soil erosion, landslides, and desertification. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and support biodiversity, making them vital to a healthy ecosystem.
