The Federal Government has officially released the lineup of events to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, with a week-long programme of religious, civic, and cultural activities scheduled under the theme: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the celebrations will kick off today, Friday, September 26, with a special Jumu’ah prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja at 1:00 p.m.
An inter-denominational church service will follow on Sunday, September 28, at the National Christian Centre, starting at 10:00 a.m.
On Monday, September 29, a world press conference is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja, where key government officials are expected to brief the media on the significance of the milestone and ongoing national priorities.

The highlight of the anniversary takes place on Tuesday, October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day with a nationwide broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at 7:00 a.m.
This will be followed by an official anniversary parade at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Activities will conclude on Friday, October 3, with the formal unveiling of the National Values Charter (NVC) by President Tinubu.
The event, which will also feature the grand finale of the National Campus Debate, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the State House Conference Centre.
The government urged all Nigerians to participate actively in the celebrations, emphasising unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
