The Federal Government has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with the Saudi Arabia through stronger institutional partnerships.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave the assurance while receiving the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Yosef Bin Mohammed Al Balawi, in Abuja.

The Minister announced Nigeria’s endorsement of three Memoranda of Understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in news exchange, broadcasting, and audio-visual regulation between both countries’ media institutions.

He described the agreements as strategic steps toward strengthening media diplomacy and balanced information sharing.

Mohammed Idris also highlighted collaboration within multilateral platforms such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and UNESCO, noting shared interests in peace, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable development.

He further appreciated Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Nigerian pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah, while welcoming talks on the possible resumption of direct flights between Jeddah and Abuja.

In his remarks, Ambassador Al Balawi expressed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Nigeria in media, economy, security, and religious affairs for mutual benefit.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
