The Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has assured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving infrastructural development, feeding, and teacher quality for effective teaching and learning in colleges.

This was disclosed during the announcement of the National Common Entrance Examination results, released by the National Examinations Council, for pupils seeking admission to Federal Government colleges in Abuja.

The Nigerian higher education faces numerous challenges, with millions of applicants vying for limited admissions in various higher institutions each year.

This has led many Nigerians to seek foreign higher education opportunities.

This year, 71,291 candidates registered for the National Common Entrance Examination, with 66,931 sitting for the exams in centers across Nigeria, Benin Republic, and Togo.

Unfortunately, 4,360 candidates were absent.

The Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, disclosed that 52 candidates were involved in examination malpractice, with two caught in Lagos State and 50 in Rivers State.

The Minister also explained the criteria for admission into Federal Unity Colleges, commending Lagos State for presenting the highest number of students during exams and Zamfara State for improving its student numbers.
