FEC approves design for second Niger bridge

Image result for FEC approves design for second Niger bridgeAnother step ha been taken towards delivering the second Niger bridge, which connects eastern Nigeria to the rest of the country, by road.

The Federal Executive Council has approved the engineering design for the link roads connecting the bridge to Onitsha and Asaba.

The Council also approved the contract for the construction of the second phase of the Abuja Mass transit system.

State House Correspondent Tai Amodu reports that the engineering design of the link roads is the first phase of the Second Niger Bridge and its completion in about six months time will lead to the
procurement phase and as the second Niger bridge advances, Anambra and Delta states will be connected to it.

The Power sector recovery programme also came up for approval with the Minister explaining that it would comprise of programmes of action that would ensure policies already put in place were fully implemented.

The operational and financial interventions, he says, will improve transparency and service delivery of distribution companies, the transmission company and the entire value chain

Council gave its nod to the construction of phase two of the Abuja mass transit system under lot one B which will pass through the city centre and terminate at the Gwagwa station.

The project and other related works is to be delivered at a cost of one point seven nine two billion US Dollars.

Lot three which starts at the Abuja metro station and terminates at the airport is already 90 percent completed and so the purchase of the rolling stock or coaches was also approved on Wednesday

The Federal Executive Council also approved the contract for construction of twelve roads across the country at the total sum of about eighty billion Naira.
