In a groundbreaking partnership, Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Arab Emirates to expand digital learning and skill development for youths nationwide.
In a Thursday statement signed by the presidency, it is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to build a generation of globally competitive, digitally skilled young people.
According to the statement, the agreement was signed by the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr Ayodele Olawande, and Dr Waleed Al Ali representing the UAE Digital School under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
The Ministry’s technical partner, Sapphital Limited, supported the design and implementation framework.
Dr Olawande described the partnership as “a promise to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to thrive in today’s digital world.”
The statement reads, “This partnership – signed between the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the UAE Digital School under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI)- positions Nigeria as one of the first African countries to directly integrate with the UAE’s digital education ecosystem.”
According to the MoU signed in Dubai, it outlines practical collaboration to:
Expand Access: Link Nigerian youth to the Digital School and the Nigeria Youth Academy (NiYA) learning platforms
Modernise Education: Design and deliver localised digital curricula, e-learning materials, and training videos tailored for Nigerian learners.
Build Infrastructure: Develop IT systems, cybersecurity networks, and job-ready learning environments nationwide.
Train Educators: Provide professional development for teachers, facilitators, and instructional designers
Mobilise Youth: Drive nationwide awareness campaigns and enrolment drives to connect more young Nigerians to digital skills opportunities.

Young Nigerians- millions of secondary school graduates, job seekers, and out-of-school youth can now access free and certified digital courses.
