Enugu Gov. Peter Mbah signs three legislative bills into law

Governor of Enugu state, Peter Mbah has signed the bill to establish new Enugu Mega City with infrastructure into Law.

The Governor also signed the bill to amend the state Independent Electoral Commission and a bill to establish Enugu Geographical Information System.

Enugu State, South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria shares borders with Benue and Kogi states and also connects other states of the same zone.

Since the City was created in 1917, Enugu is accommodating thousands of new residents, hence the need to create a legal framework for the New Enugu Mega City.

Signing the Three Bills into Law, Governor Mbah disclosed that the idea was to create a new city for future generations.

On the bill to establish an agency that manages the new Enugu Geographical Information System, Governor Mbah says it would set up an automated and digitized governance system, to enhance E-governance services in the state.

Speaker of the state House of Assembly hinted that the vision behind the mega city was to establish a living home for all black nations of the world.

The Bill to amend the Enugu Independent Electoral Commission was designed to strengthen the commission to be in-line with the Constitutional Amendment for electoral institutions.
