Paralympic bronze medallist Eniola Bolaji has added another prestigious gold medal to her collection, triumphing at the 2025 Spanish Para Badminton International II in Vitoria.

This victory marks her 11th consecutive gold medal in international competitions, maintaining her unbeaten record.

The multiple African champion delivered a commanding performance in the women’s singles SL3 final, defeating Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyba 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) to claim the title.

Bolaji’s journey to gold was nothing short of spectacular.

She began her campaign with a decisive 2-0 (21-15, 21-2) victory over Brazil’s Kauana Michelson Beckenka, followed by another dominant 2-0 (21-7, 21-8) win against France’s Caroline Bergeron in the group stage. She continued her impressive form in the quarterfinals, defeating Australia’s Celine Vinot 2-0 (21-8, 21-12).

In the semifinals, Bolaji showcased her exceptional skill and determination, overpowering India’s Neeraj with a resounding 2-0 (21-12, 21-6) victory to secure her place in the final.

The President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih, lauded Bolaji’s remarkable achievement, highlighting that this gold medal is her second in just two months.

Orbih expressed confidence in the Federation’s ongoing investment in Paralympic athletes and reiterated their commitment to supporting Bolaji and other para badminton players.

He said, “Bolaji’s victory is a testament to her dedication and her growing dominance on the global para badminton stage. This gold medal, her second in two months, demonstrates that our athletes are capable of competing at the highest level.

“We are fully committed to investing in Bolaji and all our para badminton players. Their success reflects the hard work and resources we are channelling into developing the sport. This victory is just the beginning of many more to come.

“One of our key priorities as a Federation is to ensure more players qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics,” he added.

Orbih also extended his gratitude to the National Sports Commission for their timely intervention and support, which has been instrumental in the Federation’s growth.

He emphasised that the Commission’s encouragement marks a new era for sports development in Nigeria.
