Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have released military officers who were allegedly arrested for being linked to Internet-related fraud.
It was gathered that those arrested included one serving officer from the Nigerian Army and seven operatives from the Nigerian Air Force.
These individuals were initially arrested by the Kaduna State zonal office of the anti-graft agency Monday and held in the commission’s custody for further investigation and potential prosecution.
A conflict arose Friday when armed Nigerian Air Force soldiers reportedly stormed the EFCC office situated at Number 4, Wurno Road in the state capital, seeking the release of their detained colleagues.
In response to the incident, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that the commission decided to release the suspects after concluding its investigation and conducting forensic profiling.
He added that the suspects are still scheduled to appear in court at the appropriate time.
