Five security officers have been detained following a joint investigation into the 12 February 2026 security breach at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The investigation was conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Federal Ministry of Aviation.
Those detained are Ayuba Yakubu (ASP) of the Police; Murtala Inuwa of the DSS; Najeeb Murtala (ASI) of the NIS; and Musa Adamu and Salihu Victor, both of Aviation Security (AVSEC).
According to the findings, the officers allegedly confessed to receiving bribes to facilitate unauthorised entry into restricted areas and to obstruct lawful security operations.
They have been handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution.
Other personnel from the NIS and NCS whose actions were deemed non-criminal but involved abuse of official uniforms to enable unauthorised access will face administrative sanctions.
