The Department of State Services, DSS, has arrested the mastermind of the deadly 2025 Ayetoro Kiri First ECWA Church attack in Kogi State, Shafiu Usman.

Bandits had struck at the First ECWA Church in Ayetoro Kiri in Kogi State on December 14 2025, killing one and abducting an unspecified number of people.
The abductees were later released after the alleged payment of ransom by their families.
The attackers came in large numbers riding motorcycles before attacking the church which was holding a service at the time.
