The Delta State Government has begun discussions with labor leaders in the state on implementing President Bola Tinubu’s N70,000 minimum wage law.

This is part of the resolutions adopted during the State Executive Council meeting.

The council also directed the ministry of agriculture and job creation office to develop programs aimed at empowering young people.

The 5th Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, focused on alleviating people’s suffering as a result of the country’s current economic predicament.

For nearly fifty thousand governmental servants in the state, the adoption of the minimum wage will go a long way toward addressing some of their issues, which the state administration wants to achieve by first talking with labor leaders.

It also intends to implement agricultural projects aimed at the state’s youth.

The Delta State Government is also expanding development across the state by approving road infrastructure.

Regarding the security situation in the state, the administration claims it is striving to decrease cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and other crimes to the bare minimum.

The State Executive Council also approved payment of N3.55bn as counterpart funding for the 2024 Universal Basic Education Programme
