Defence Intelligence Agency accredits 12 foreign allied defence advisers, attachés

The Director of Foreign Liaison at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Ojogbane Adegebe, has informed 12 foreign allied advisers and attachés that trips to service headquarters without the knowledge of the DIA are prohibited.

The director also instructed foreign advisers and attachés not to engage in cross-country movements without the knowledge of the DIA.

The Defence Intelligence Agency has successfully accredited 12 foreign defense advisers and attachés posted by their home countries to Nigeria.

Their primary function is to serve as their country’s point of contact for the host nation on matters regarding defence, and to keep their authorities informed on current military and defence policy developments.

The accredited countries are Botswana, Cote D’Ivoire, China, Egypt, Ghana, Niger, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia,Uganda, Japan, Sierra Leone

Attaches are used for commonwealth countries while advisers are used for non-common wealth countries

The defence advisers and attachés will be stationed at their various embassies and high commissions in Nigeria.

The highlights of the ceremony was the handing over of their certificate of accreditation to them.

The first attaché to be called on was Bostwana, the national anthem of Botswana was rendered then the certificate was presented to him.

This was the same protocol for the other advisers and attachés.

Some of the advisers and attaches came bearing gift for the Chief of defence intelligence

The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Emmanuel Undiandeye on his part reiterated that the defence intelligence agency remains the link between the advisers and attachés and the ministry of defense and other agencies in Nigeria.

The Accreditation and certificate presentation was the final stage of the documentation procedure which grants them permission to preform their functions in line with the guidelines of the Defence intelligence Agency.
