The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday led a high-powered delegation of security chiefs on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State, reaffirming the military’s commitment to restoring peace.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the state and address emerging security challenges.

On arrival, the COAS was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, underscoring strong civil-military collaboration in tackling insecurity.

During the engagement, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, presented a detailed operational briefing.

He outlined ongoing joint operations and proactive strategies being implemented with other security agencies to contain threats, protect lives and property, and restore normalcy in affected communities.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also met with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens.

He urged residents to remain calm, adhere to the curfew, and cooperate with security agencies while continuing their lawful activities.

Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Dachung Bagos, commended the COAS for the timely intervention, noting that the visit would boost public confidence and strengthen trust in security operations.

Similarly, Councillor representing Naraguta ‘B’ Ward, Hon. Ladi Dangyok, described the visit as a strong reassurance to affected communities.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its resolve to work closely with other security agencies, the Plateau State Government, and key stakeholders to address security challenges, restore lasting peace, and enhance community resilience across the State.
