The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has expressed its readiness to partner with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to deepen youth mentorship, corps empowerment and national integration initiatives across the country.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of CIPM, Oluwatoyin Naiwo, made this known during a courtesy visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
Naiwo explained that CIPM remains the only statutory regulator of human resource management practice in Nigeria, established by an Act of Parliament in 2004.

“As at today, we have over 20,000 certified members, including senior public officials, and we operate five zonal offices nationwide, with our headquarters in Lagos,” she said.
She commended the NYSC for its sustained efforts in mentoring young graduates for leadership roles and equipping them with entrepreneurial skills for job creation.
According to her, the Scheme’s reform initiatives, centred on skills development, digital innovation and employability, are repositioning it as a strong driver of national workforce readiness.
Naiwo stressed the need for corps members to be more familiar with CIPM and to receive proper guidance on post-service career opportunities.
To this end, she proposed that the Institute be given the opportunity to make presentations during NYSC Orientation Courses, aimed at exposing corps members to workplace expectations, structured career planning and professional development pathways.
Responding, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, reaffirmed the Scheme’s willingness to collaborate with organisations committed to youth development and national integration.
He noted that corps members are consistently eager to embrace initiatives that add value to their service year and future careers.
The Director-General emphasised the importance of manpower development and disclosed that both organisations would constitute a joint technical team to fine-tune and implement the proposed areas of collaboration.
