The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent and internationally acceptable national census, stressing that due process will not be compromised.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf.
Idris said accurate population data is vital for national planning and development, assuring the NPC of full support from his ministry and its agencies for nationwide sensitisation once President Bola Tinubu proclaims a census date.
He noted that government media organisations would be deployed to mobilise public participation.
He also emphasised that a presidential proclamation remains the legal basis for the census and that all preparations are being aligned with global standards.
Yusuf, in his remarks, said the commission is operationally ready, with systems, logistics and personnel being refined and called for sustained public enlightenment to build trust and ensure successful participation.
