Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo has presented a draft budget of N820,490,585,443 to the Kogi State House of Assembly for legislation and consequent approval.

Presenting the budget estimate, the Governor revealed that there is a 35 percent increase over the 2025 budget tailored to improve the wellbeing of Kogi residents.

TVC News had earlier reported that Governor Ododo presented a budget of over ₦820.49 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the Kogi State Executive Council for consideration and approval.

Tagged, “Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All,” the proposal represents a ₦215.96 billion (35.7%) increase over the revised 2025 budget.

Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, economic expansion, and improved service delivery across all sectors.

According to the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris, the budget is anchored on fiscal strategies to strengthen revenue, consolidate reforms, and sustain growth.

He explained that recurrent spending covers personnel, overheads, and debt servicing, while capital expenditure targets infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and social welfare projects.

Idris added that the plan focuses on boosting IGR, promoting PPPs, improving the ease of doing business, and cushioning the effects of subsidy removal through social protection, rural development, SME support, and alternative energy solutions.
