The recently reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was formally received by members of the party on Saturday.
Mr. Shaibu who was reinstated on Thursday by an Abuja court presided by Justice J. K. Omotosho, overturned the impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly.

The Edo state deputy governor told TVC News in an interview on Friday that he was yet to formally defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but had already identified with the APC.
According to him, “My spirit has left PDP for a long time, it is only my leg and body that are still there because my PDP party card is still with me and I have not picked an APC party card yet. But in terms of spirit, my spirit has left PDP and is now in APC”.
