Bandits Kill Vigilante Leader, Six Others In Zamfara Village

A popular local vigilante leader Dan-Mudi Mada and Six other members of the group were killed by armed bandits in Mada village in Gusau Local Government area of Zamfara State

They were killed Sunday night in what some residents described as a reprisal attack

Residents the community have also deserted their homes for the fear of another attack

Among those killed was a popular vigilante commander, known as Dan-mudi Mada, who led an attack on a bandit hideout and killed a Notorious bandit known as Mala’ikan Hausawa few days ago

The attack on the bandit hideouts by members of the local vigilante group angered other bandits which led to the reprisal attack on the village

The slain Vigilante leader was praised for Securing some communities suffering from banditry and Kidnapping, especially in Mada and Wonaka areas

Police authorities in the state Confirmed the incident

Spokesperson of the Command Supritendant Mohammed Shehu says officers have been deployed to the area to ensure that residents are safe and also to forestall further attack

Incessant attacks and Kidnapping for ransom especially in some Northern states has forced many villages to set up vigilante groups to protect their Communities from attacks by bandits but it seems the development has worsened the security challenges given rise to an explosion of tit-for-tat killings between the bandits and the Locals.
