The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of being responsible for its internal crisis, dismissing allegations that the ruling party is working to undermine it.

In a press statement issued in Abuja on April 2, 2026, APC described the ADC as a party plagued by confusion and desperation, alleging that it has resorted to spreading conspiracy theories about the ruling party.

The APC claimed that the ADC’s troubles were self-inflicted, arguing that the party failed to follow due process in managing its leadership structure. It criticised the emergence of a factional leadership allegedly led by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, describing their actions as a violation of the party’s constitution and the rule of law.

According to the statement, the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-recognise the factional leadership was lawful and in line with existing court judgments and electoral regulations.

The ruling party further stated that it was “irresponsible” for the ADC to blame the APC for its internal challenges, insisting that the opposition party must take full responsibility for what it described as a self-inflicted crisis.

APC added that the ADC’s inability to manage its internal affairs undermines its credibility as a viable political platform, arguing that a party unable to resolve its own issues cannot effectively govern the country.

The statement also accused the ADC of lacking clear policy direction, alleging that its primary focus has been on criticising the APC rather than presenting alternative ideas to Nigerians.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the administration remains focused on delivering its Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening democratic institutions.

The statement was signed by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the APC.
