The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State on Tuesday re-elected Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru as its State Chairman, returning him unopposed in what party leaders have hailed as the most peaceful and orderly congress in the party’s history in the state.
Held at Goru Bulasa, Birnin Kebbi, the congress drew delegates from all 21 Local Government Areas, representing 225 wards, state executives, former governors, former and serving deputy governors, as well as current and past members of the State and National Assemblies.
The exercise, officials noted, was largely conducted through consensus, reflecting strong internal cohesion.
Alongside Kana-Zuru, other executives elected include Alhaji Ado-Mudi Augie as Vice Chairman, Alhaji Saidu Muhammad-Kimba as Secretary, Alhaji Sahabi Lolo as Assistant Secretary, and Alhaji Abubakar Bunza as Treasurer.
Key positions for inclusivity were also filled, with Hajiya A’isha Gunabi elected as State Women Leader, Hajiya Jamila Baba as Assistant Women Leader, Alhaji Isah Assalafi as Public Relations Officer, and Alhaji Lukman Yauri as Assistant PRO.
Alhaji Attahiru Maccido, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), described the event as “unprecedented in the history of the party in the state,” emphasizing the orderly conduct and collaborative spirit that characterized the congress.
