The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has dismissed concerns that the defection of former Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) could affect the party’s strength, describing the move as a personal decision that does not reflect the position of the party.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Communications of the Ondo State PDP, Wándé. Àjàyí, the party said it remains united, focused, and committed to rebuilding its structures across the state.

It insisted that its political relevance is not dependent on any single individual.

The party maintained that it is guided by strong ideals, internal democracy, and a commitment to the welfare of the people, rather than what it described as political convenience and transient interests.

According to the statement, the PDP is concentrating on strengthening its grassroots base and presenting a credible, people-oriented alternative to what it termed the APC’s failed governance in the state.

The party also reassured its members and supporters of its readiness to continue playing its constitutional role as a strong opposition and a platform for progressive leadership in Ondo State.
