At a meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the group called on the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria to align the country’s fiscal and monetary policies to checkmate rising cost of goods and services.

TVC’s Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that  the meeting which was held in the country home of its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti had  foremost Yoruba leaders from far and near were in attendance.

And after the close door meeting which lasted for several hours, the group released a communique which addressed some national issues.

The communiqué, read by the Chairman of the drafting committee, Korede Duyile urged the government to put necessary machinery in place to address the rising inflation in the country.

The mainstream Yoruba organisation also kicked against alleged marginalisation of the southwest zone in appointments into Federal ministries and parastatals of government.

The group wants the federal character commission to look into the matter.

The group also charged the Nigerian government to find a lasting solution to the rising cases of abduction and other crimes in the country.
