At the Federal Polytechnic Ede in Osun State, Series of meetings held to resolve what could have become an industrial crisis may have yielded positive results.
The school will now be shut for a two-week mid-semester break.

Within the period, management will attempt to deal with a dispute between members of the student union government and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics.

Finally a moment of respite is on the horizon for staff and students of Federal Polytechnic Ede in Osun.

It follows a series of meetings held between the Governing Council of the Institution and the academic staff union.

On Thursday last week, lectures had protested the alleged proscription of their union by the institution’s management.

As tension brewed, the management decided to suspend the second semester examinations scheduled to commence on Monday.

This is a decision accepted by all parties to the conflict.

Part of what had caused agitations on campus in the past week was that some students had been suspended

It is hoped that the two-week window will give the authorities time to address the issues thoroughly and ensure that upon resumption, all questions would have been answered.
